| Paulina Uugwanga has been visiting the IU East campus in Richmond to pick up administrative knowledge that will transfer to the northern campus of the University of Namibia (UNAM), where she is the newly appointed director. UNAM is located in the north central city of Oshakati, Namibia.
An Educational Partnership Program grant between IU East and UNAM was funded by the U.S. Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and provides for a series of faculty and administrator exchanges between the two schools. The program will train and support essential managerial and administrative personnel and will advance understanding of how necessary financial, material and technological resources may be developed.
“In essence, we wanted to show Paulina how IU East works since we share a mission very similar to the Northern Campus in Namibia,” said IU East Chancellor David Fulton. “And at the same time, this is a wonderful opportunity for IU East to address issues of diversity and internationalism from a unique perspective.”
In February, Fulton and Susan Shapiro, director of the Teaching and Learning Center, will travel to UNAM. Other exchanges are scheduled in the summer of 2004.
