| Near Westside Indianapolis residents got a free dose of knowledge from IU School of Medicine students, physicians and faculty on Oct. 20. The healthful hints were given at the Westside Community Health Center as a service to that area. That particular community was chosen because it is medically underserved.
The medical school volunteers provided free screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and colon cancer. Dental and allied health students also helped with the screenings. Adults at high risk for complications from influenza and pneumonia also received attention at a booth set up by the Indiana chapter of the American College of Physicians.
