IU Northwest hosts mathematical association

Project Next-IN for new doctoral recipients

IU Northwest’s Department of Mathematics was the host and sponsor of the 2002 fall meeting and conference of the Indiana Section of the Mathematical Association of America Oct. 4-5. Tina Straley, executive director of MAA, gave a special presentation on “Undergraduate Mathematics: Hazards and Opportunities.” The first day of the conference was reserved for a Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching) workshop series.

Project NExT-IN , a program of the IMAA, is an offshoot of the national Project NExT, and is a program geared toward new or recent doctoral recipients in the mathematical sciences who are employed by Indiana colleges or universities. While the national P roject NExT requires applicants to be no more than two years removed from confirmation of their doctorate, Project NExT-IN accepts applications from any faculty interested in participating. Pre-tenured faculty are encouraged to apply. IU Northwest IMAA l iaison is Vesna Kilibarda, telephone 219-980-6950; E-mail vkilibar@iun.edu.
