This vintage photograph was taken in a ward at the Riley Hospital for Children, which opened its doors in 1924 and remains the only hospital in Indiana devoted exclusively to providing comprehensive care to children. The hospital, named
for Hoosier poet James Whitcomb Riley, is the recipient of funds raised during the student-run IU Dance Marathon, which, during 11 years of production, has raised $2 million toward the Ryan White Infectious Disease Center at the hospital in Indianapolis.
Organizers have issued a special invitation to IU employees. The 2002 marathon will be from 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, to 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at the HPER Building, IU Bloomington. If you’d like to attend and/or make a contribution, E-mail iudmc@indiana.edu.
