“Educating the Black Male: Breaking the Cycle” is the theme of the sixth annual African-American Male National Conference Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Indianapolis, featuring comedian Dick Gregory, psychologist Na’im Akbar of Florida State University and Dennis Watson of the National Black Youth Leadership. The African American Male National Council, an affiliate of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, in conjunction with the Indiana Commission on the Social Status of Black Males, are sponsors, and to help increase participation, some of the registration costs may be deferred for IU students.
