| MacIntyre new media relations director at IU
Larry MacIntyre, an aide to U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar (R.-Ind.), has been named the new director of media relations for IU. He will serve as the primary spokesperson for the university, reporting to William Stephan, vice president for university relations and corporate partnerships at IU.
For more than 25 years, MacIntyre was a reporter and editor at newspapers in Indiana and Michigan, including 14 years at theIndianapolis Star. At the Star, he served as assistant editor of the editorial page, assistant city editor, Statehouse reporter and editorial writer, before leaving in 2002.
Since August 2002, he has been a legislative assistant to Lugar and has served as a liaison for the senator on issues relating to Indiana’s military facilities, homeland security, telecommunications and technology. He retired in 2000 with the rank of colonel from the U.S. Army Reserve.
A logistician, he served in Operation Desert Storm in 1990 and supported the U.S. peace-keeping mission in Bosnia in 1996. He has a journalism degree from the University of Colorado and also studied at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
