IU ballet professor subject of new documentary

IU School of Music Professor Violette Verdy is the subject of a recent documentary by Dominique Delouche. Filmed in the studios of the Paris Opera Ballet, Violette et Mr. B chronicles Verdy as she teaches the ballets of choreographers George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins, with whom she worked at the New York City Ballet. The documentary was recently part of the Boston French Film Festival at the Museum of Fine Arts.

Verdy has been a professor of music at IU Bloomington since 1996. Former prima ballerina and company director, she has been serving the world of dance internationally as a teacher, choreographer, coach, author and lecturer for more than 55 years.
