Go back in time—here's how

1996--IU gateway page

The folks at the Internet Archive are providing Internet users the means to turn back time—if only in cyberspace.

According to the Internet Archive's own site, the Wayback Machine offers an opportunity to view a Web page "as it looked on a given date" --giving historians and others a window to the past.

A few quick keystrokes at the Wayback Machine interface gives you access to nearly 10 billion Web pages, cataloged by date. For example, if you want to see what Indiana University's Web site looked like in 1996, type in the URL (www.indiana.edu) and then select the year from the site's collection.
