| Applications for IU Bloomington’s ETC program are due next month.
ETC stands for Excellence Training for Clericals, a program designed to improve performance and professionalism of support staff, so that the staff, in turn, can enhance departmental productivity. September’s incoming ETC class will be the 17th and is sponsored by the Employee and Organizational Development unit of University Human Resource Services (UHRS) in Bloomington.
ETC participants meet approximately six hours a month (two Tuesday morning
sessions) for 10 months. Deadline for application is Aug. 22, and
space is given in order of receipt of application materials. Schedules
are sent out well in advance so participants can plan time and work
schedules.
UHRS funds the 19 core courses and University Information Technology Services (UITS) awards a 50 percent reduction in usual fees for the two computer courses that are a component of the ETC program. The total computing fee is approximately $30-$45. UITS bills departments when the participant attends class. ETC covers communication skills, business and English written skills, computer and technology skills, and personal and career growth. A detailed list of courses is available in the application packet.
