A journal edited by Trudy Banta, IUPUI’s vice chancellor for planning and institutional improvement, has won the Gold Award in the subscription category of the 2003 Newsletter Awards Competition. Assessment Update—Progress, Trends, and Practices in Higher Education , has received the recognition in the annual competition, sponsored by The Newsletter on Newsletters . The award is based on superior editorial content, design, typography, photography and printing quality.
Assessment Update , a bi-monthly periodical founded by Banta in 1989, is produced by Jossey-Bass Publishers of San Francisco. Karen Black, assistant to the vice chancellor for planning and institutional improvement, serves as managing editor of the publication.
