By Keith Roach

Student Choice Awards for Outstanding IUB Faculty were presented this spring to (left to right): Michael Molenda, Mehmet Dalkilic, Phil Carspecken, Irene Vlachos-Weber.

Five IU Bloomington faculty members were awarded Student Choice Awards for Outstanding Faculty at IU Bloomington's annual Spring Recognition Banquet on April 17. The awards are given based on the recommendations of IU Bloomington students.

This year's Student Choice Awards for Outstanding Faculty were presented to:

· Phil Carspecken, professor of counseling and educational psychology;

· Mehmet Dalkilic, assistant professor of informatics;

· Zaineb Istrabadi, visiting lecturer in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures;

Also winning a Student Choice Award for Outstanding Faculty was Zaineb Istrabadi, pictured at the award banquet with Jason Russ, who will serve as vice president for university relations for the IU Student Alumni Association.

· Michael Molenda, associate professor of education; and

· Irene Vlachos-Weber, lecturer in psychology.

All IU Bloomington students are eligible to nominate their favorite professors for the award, and the selections are made based on the professors' knowledge, class-presentation skills, rapport with students and enthusiasm. Three to five faculty members receive the award each year.

The Spring Recognition Banquet is sponsored by the Student Alumni Association at IU Bloomington and IUB's Office of the Chancellor.
