With the upcoming Independence Day festivities throughout the country,
IU Home Pages suggests the topic of vexillology, the study
of the names and nicknames of flags. This Web site will take you
to flags of many organizations and countries throughout the world.
Vexillologists have gathered every two years since 1965 to attend
the International Congresses of Vexillology. The 20th International
Congress of Vexillology is scheduled in Stockholm, Sweden, in August
2003. Closer to home, readers may be interested to know that Mooresville’s
slogan is "Home of the State Flag,” adopted in 1966 to honor artist
Paul Hadley, the Indiana state flag's designer who lived in that
city for many years. Another good flag site is maintained by the
