Music and art enthusiasts can revel in July's jazzy offerings

Music and art enthusiasts can revel in July's jazzy offerings at the Indiana University Art Museum in Bloomington. Cool Jazz for Hot Summer Nights, a series of jazz concerts hosted by the IU Art Museum on its Sculpture Terrace, begins on July 5 and runs four consecutive Fridays. Each concert begins at 6:30 p.m. The performers include the Charlie Smith Project (July 5), Charged Particles (July 12), the Bill Lancton Jazz Quartet (July 19) and Sara Caswell (July 26).

The series coincides with the museum's display of Henri Matisse's Jazz, a book based upon his cut out designs. (See accompanying story.)

Both the concert and the exhibit are free and open to the public, however donations are appreciated. Seating is limited for the performances, so listeners are encouraged to come early, and in case of rain, the concerts will be moved inside. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
