Leone leaving directorship of IU Press

Peter-John Leone, director of IU Press, has announced his resignation, effective July 1. Janet Rabinowitch, currently editorial director at IU Press, will serve as interim director, and Robert Sloan, senior sponsoring editor, will assume Rabinowitch’s editorial directorship. A national search for Leone’s successor will begin this fall, with anticipated appointment during the summer of 2004.

Leone was named the third director of the IU Press in 2000, replacing retiring director John Gallman, who had held the position since 1975. Founding director Bernard Perry held the post from 1950-1975.

IU Press is an auxiliary unit to IU, and its director reports directly to IU Bloomington Chancellor Sharon Brehm.
