DeHaan
Bruner

Fred DeHaan has been named interim vice chancellor for university advancement, reporting to Chancellor Bruce Bergland. He replaces Jeff Lorber, who left to join Southern Illinois University as the associate vice chancellor for institutional advancement. DeHaan has 16 years of professional experience in advancing the missions of both private and public educational institutions, most recently as interim vice chancellor for university advancement at Purdue University Calumet where he led efforts to raise $4.2 million in fiscal year 2004 toward a $10.8 million five-year campaign goal. Currently, the school has surpassed its original goal and has raised an estimated $13 million.

Carmen Kent Bruner has been named director of development. She was formerly assistant director of giving at the Brookfield (Ill.) Zoo where she managed and staffed the Women's Board, a group of volunteers responsible for fundraising for the organization. Bruner planned and executed the zoo's two major fundraising events, "The Whirl" and "Wines in the Wild." Both events combined raised more than a million dollars this past year. Prior to that experience, Bruner was the associate director of annual giving at Northwestern University, where she was an integral member of the Diversity Council.

Susan Zinner, SPEA, has two entries (Goss v. Lopez and Michael H. et al. v. Gerald D.) in the most recent edition of The Encyclopedia of the Supreme Court. In February, Zinner discussed the use of grief narratives in the pediatric population at the annual meeting of the Association of Practical and Professional Ethics in San Antonio.
