Erich Stem, music, was invited to compose an original composition for the Aurelia Saxophone Quartet in Holland, which is scheduled to release the work on CD. His work for piano trio, After Rain, was performed by the Aura New Music Ensemble at the SCI Region VI Conference at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Ruth Garvey-Nix, vice chancellor for student affairs, serves on the board of trustees for the Spirit of Louisville Foundation and is vice chairperson of the Bell Awards, given for volunteerism.

Harry Weger, communication, is the co-author, with John Seiter of Utah State University, of "Audience Perceptions of Candidate's Appropriateness as a Function of Nonverbal Behaviors Displayed during Televised Political Debates," which is due to appear in the Journal of Social Psychology. The two also have collaborated on "Background Behavior in Live Debates: The Effects of the Implicit Ad Hominem Fallacy," to appear in the journal Communication Reports .

Kyle Ridout, manager of the Ogle Center, has been re-elected to the board of directors of the Arts and Cultural Attractions Council of Greater Louisville Inc.

Douglas Darnowski, biology, is the co-author with two Southeast students of "Vegetative Reproduction during Development in Australian Pygmy and Tuberous Sundews," to be featured in Acta Botanica Gallica. A second paper, "Fe on the growth of Utricularia gibba and U. macrorhiza" will appear in the Carnivorous Plant Newsletter.

Susan Moffett, dean of arts and letters, participated in an exchange portfolio titled Wrinkle, which was exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. during the Southern Graphics Council annual meeting in April. Her contribution was a digital/silkscreen print.
