Faculty and staff tributes—IPFW

Carlos Pomalaza-Ráez, electrical engineering, is one of only 12 college professors in the country to be awarded a Fulbright grant from Finland and one of only two of the 12 who has been awarded the grant for the entire academic year. The grant, for electronics, information and telecommunication technology at the University of Oulu, is a joint effort with Nokia, a Finnish corporation, which is also the world’s largest mobile communications company. He was a visiting professor at the University of Oulu in 1997-98. Desiderio Vasquez, physics, also has received a Fulbright grant to do research at Catholic University of Lima, Peru, for the spring 2004 semester. Pomalaza-Ráez and Vasquez are natives of Peru.
