IU alumni couple set example for ‘Campaign for Community’

Rob Quigg

Rob and Kelli Quigg of Richmond are believers in education. They also believe that education is the key to Richmond’s future.

In June 2003, Chancellor David Fulton invited a group of community leaders to the Richmond campus to listen to his report on the opportunities that exist at IU East. The group also visited with department chairs to hear their needs.

Before long, IU East and Purdue University would unite toward a common goal of improving the life and well-being of the region through “Campaign for Community.”

Rob Quigg, customer development and treasurer for Richmond Baking, was one of those community leaders. He is the committee chairman for the “Campaign for Community.”

While living outside of his hometown, including time in Bloomington and in Arizona, Quigg took note and observed that perhaps east central Indiana was not using all of its resources.

“IU East and Purdue are a leverage a lot of towns would love to have. I really felt that their programs could be a catalyst for growth in our region,” Quigg said. “If this area is going to get better, education has to be the driving force for that.”

As leader of the campaign, Quigg pledged a gift of $125,000, of which $10,000 will be set aside for Purdue University. “I am very excited about the future of this area and the future IU East and Purdue can play,” he said.

Quigg graduated from IU in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in history, and he also earned a certified public accountant certificate from IUPUI in 1997. Kelli Quigg is an alumna of IU and graduated in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
