IU staff and faculty university-wide invited to golf tournament

The biannual tournament is a social outing that allows IU faculty and staff get to meet and interact with co-workers from other departments and campuses. “This is a great opportunity to take a break from work, get out of the office and just enjoy the beautiful weather outside,” said Joanne Orrange, assistant director for special events at the division.

Champions will be named in both the men’s and women’s divisions for low gross and low net, using a modified bankers handicap. Mixed teams compete in the men’s division. In previous tournaments, prizes were also given out to the worst golfers and golfers spotted by recreational sports staff for doing ”extraordinary things.”

“We want the tournament to accommodate both recreational and more competitive golfers, and for people to relax and have some fun,” said Orrange. “The gag prizes always draw huge laughs from everyone.”

Shotgun starts at 8 a.m. Entry fees are $30/person for IU golf members and $45/person for non-members. Fee includes breakfast, lunch, on-course snacks, green and cart fees and great prizes.

Register for tournament by May 9 at IUB HPER Wildermuth or the Student Recreational Sports Complex, Room 115, or send registration forms and checks to HPER 290, IU Division of Recreational Sports, via Campus Mail.
