| Mark your calendars for the IU Bloomington Purchasing Department’s third Contract Supplier Show.
The event is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 26, and from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, April 27, on the floor of Assembly Hall in Bloomington. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.
IUB is a major consumer in the south central area of Indiana—food, transportation, utilities, health services and much more—the kinds of things necessary to run an entire city and its populace.
The IUB Purchasing Department is charged with the responsibility of making prudent purchases for the campus and to that end, the purchasing staff uses the institution’s combined volumes to leverage negotiated prices and terms with several major suppliers.
Suppliers frequently use product shows as a way to introduce new products, demonstrate new features and advertise their businesses. In a like sense, departments’ needs range from day-to-day supplies to highly specialized equipment. These elements in combination with IU contracts led to the organization of the Contract Supplier Show.
The last Contract Supplier Show was in 1999 and was a great success in bringing together departmental staff and suppliers.
The event provides a unique opportunity for campus faculty and staff to visit multiple vendors under one roof and in one trip.
A special Microsoft Office XP Roadshow Presentation is scheduled to take place in the press room at Assembly Hall on April 26. Go to the IUB Purchasing Department Web site to check for the time. You can also view a department profile, check out who is in charge of purchasing what commodities for the IUB campus and access a list of suppliers that exhibited at the 1999 show:
