| The IU Opera Theater in Bloomington has announced its 2002-03 season, entitled “Opera with a Vengeance.” Filled with powerful music, passionate characters and captivating stories, the eclectic opera season includes six productions: Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Handel’s Julius Caesar, Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann, the U.S. premiere of IU music faculty member Sven-David Sandström’s Jeppe, Verdi’s La Traviata and Bernstein’s West Side Story.
There are two ways to subscribe to the Opera Theater: the “Regular Series” subscription package and the “Second Fridays” series. As Regular Series subscribers, members receive full-subscriber benefits, including all six operas for the price of five, first choice of the best seats for the entire season and the convenience of ordering all tickets at once and having them sent by mail. Starting this season, Regular Series members can select tickets to performances of every opera for the same day of the week with the following three options: Series A—First Fridays, Series B—First Saturdays, and Series C—Second Saturdays. The “Second Fridays” series offers subscribers general admission tickets at a lower cost, for a more casual evening at the opera.
Renewal subscriptions for those who wish to keep the seats they had for the past season must be received by May 17. The deadline for Regular Series and “Second Fridays” subscriptions is Aug. 30. Single ticket orders are now being accepted and will be filled after Sept. 6.
