Campus innovations address needs of a diverse student body

A changing student demographic at regional IU campuses—growing numbers of traditional-age students in each new freshmen class—calls for new programs that address the interests and needs of all students. In addition to recent high school graduates, IU Kokomo still serves students working toward a new career or job responsibility, military veterans, working parents and retirees fulfilling a life-long love of learning. This varied student base—along with the issues that focus groups and survey participants raised during a 2001 study conducted by Carnegie Communications—has motivated several recent campus innovations.
