
Metz
| Perry Metz will begin his duties as the new executive director of IU Radio and Television Services in Bloomington Aug. 11. Metz will succeed Don Agostino, who has held the position since 1991 and will retire July 31.
Radio and Television Services includes National Public Radio affiliate WFIU; Public Broadcasting Service affiliate WTIU; and a video production unit.
Metz, who has served as associate vice president of the Bloomington campus since 2000, will continue to be responsible for the IUB Visitors’ Center and the Bloomington campus Web site.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from IU in journalism and political science, and attained membership in Phi Beta Kappa scholastic honorary. He then received a Sears Congressional Fellowship in the office of U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.). He returned to IU after taking a course of study at the Poynter Institute, a non-profit school for journalists owned by the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times, and received a master’s degree in communication management. During his career in campus administration, he has held a variety of posts including director of campus relations and assistant vice president. In his work for four campus chancellors, he has regularly represented the administration in dealings with students, faculty, staff, alumni, townspeople and legislators. His duties have ranged from directing the campus’s North Central accreditation self-study to helping design and later administer the finances of the Herman B Wells Program for Outstanding Young Scholars. He also has served as the chair of Indiana Public Broadcasting Stations.
