FACET is a community of faculty dedicated to and recognized for excellence in college teaching and learning. Through its activities, participants participate in networks of colleagues from the IU campus to promote student academic success, motivate intellectual engagement and cultivate participation in the social responsibilities that come with education.

New FACET members will participate in an annual retreat at Lake Monroe May 17-19.

“Walking on the Ceiling” is the retreat theme which is taken from an Aldous Huxley quotation: “Every ceiling when reached, becomes a floor upon which one walks as a matter of course and prescriptive right.”

Program committee co-chairs are Teesue Fields, an education professor and coordinator of the counseling program at IU Southeast, and Timothy Rivard, chair of the Department of English at IU East. The annual theme will encourage retreat participants to explore how to expand boundaries through teaching and to enable students to expand their range of learning opportunities.

FACET is located on the IUPUI campus and is co-directed by Sharon Hamilton and Bob Orr.
