University-wide ‘Women in the World’ conference April 5 at IU Kokomo

By Anne-Marie Damler
Indiana University’s 14th annual women’s studies conference will be held on the IU Kokomo campus next Friday (April 5).

Approximately 100 faculty and students are expected to attend the conference, which will celebrate the scholarship and fine arts products of 50 student presenters from the eight IU campuses.

“Women in the World” is the theme of the conference, which is planned collaboratively by women’s and gender studies faculty from all IU campuses.

The students participating in the program are mentored on their individual IU campuses and come together in a variety of areas including research, creative writing and the fine arts.

Linda Chen, associate professor of political science at IU South Bend, will be speaking on “Burkhas, Bombs and Bush: A Feminist Critique of the U.S. War in Afghanistan.”

For information, call 765-455-9448.
