SPEA prof wins Swedish award for entrepreneurship research

David Audretsch, Ameritech Chair of economic development and director of the Institute for Development Strategies at IU’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs in Bloomington, is the recipient of the 2001 International Award for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Research, to be presented by the Swedish Board for Industrial and Technical Development, and the Swedish Foundation for Small Business Research.

The annual award is presented in recognition of scientific contributions to theory-building in entrepreneurship or small business development, and includes $50,000 cash and a sculpture. Audretsch’s research focuses on the links between entrepreneurship, government, policy, innovation, economic development and global competitiveness. He will receive the award May 3 at a ceremony in Sweden and will then make a 10-day speaking tour of the country.
