The African American Dance Company performed at last weekend’s Spirit of Sport fundraiser at Bloomington’s Wildermuth Center. The group, directed by Iris Rosa, will be performing again Wednesday (Feb. 19) at the dance studio of the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center at 11:30 a.m. The event will be part of IU Bloomington’s day-long Africana Festival, in celebration of Black History Month.

Caricaturist Karen Kovich completes a portrait of Savannah Michel at the annual Spirit of Sport. Games and demonstrations for all age groups brought many families to the annual event.




Paul Philhower, a powerlifter, demonstrates his sport at the Spirit of Sport. Philhower, a Special Olympian representing the Great Lakes region, will attend the 11th Special Olympics World Summer Games in Ireland this June. Nearly 7,000 athletes and 3,000 coaches are expected for the event. Indiana will have 19 athletes representing the state on Team USA.
