McGruder

Aaron McGruder, creator of the nationally syndicated and controversial comic strip titled “The Boondocks” will be the keynote speaker for the commemoration of Black History Month on the IU Bloomington campus. He will speak Wednesday (Feb. 19) at 4 p.m. at Whittenberger Auditorium in the Indiana Memorial Union.

McGruder will talk about the role of comic strips in racial discourse in America, as well as responses to his strips related to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York City, a treatment that led to the suspension of his work by the New York Daily News.
