The ‘generational storm’

Economist Laurence Kotlikoff Patten Lecturer next month

Kotlikoff

Boston University economist Laurence Kotlikoff is considered one of the leading authorities on “generational equity,” particularly in regard to how Social Security and other entitlement programs will impact future generations. His research has centered on how entitlements are extended to one generation at the expense of the next generation, suggesting the need for reform of income transfer programs. He has developed a plan to privatize Social Security and a plan to replace income tax with a national sales tax.

Kotlikoff will be speaking on the IU Bloomington campus on this subject as a Patten Lecturer. “The Coming Generational Storm: The Emperor’s New Clothes” will be delivered at 7:30 p.m. at Swain West 119 Tuesday, March 4. At the same time Thursday, March 6, at Woodburn Hall 101, his topic will be “The Coming Generational Storm: Do Cry for Me, Argentina.”
