Napping or studying in front of a blazing fire in the South Lounge is one of the winter pleasures afforded students at the Indiana Memorial Union at IU Bloomington. The building itself was dedicated June 13, 1932, to “the sons and daughters of Indiana University who had served in the wars of the Republic.”

Along with an inviting atmosphere, the IMU in Bloomington offers a computer cluster where students can catch up on their E-mail or surf the Net between classes. Left to right are Andrea Lifton, Mackenzie Mayes and Jerome Saraver. IU’s Knowledge Base, a database searchable via the Web containing more than 6,000 answers to questions about computing at IU, recently has won the Award for Institutional Excellence in Telecommunications from the Association for Telecommunications Professionals in Higher Education.
