• The Center for Urban Policy and the Environment, located in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI, recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. The center is one of the largest university-based urban policy programs in the country in terms of staff size and has brought in more than $22 million in grant projects that have ranged from community safety to riverboat gambling, property tax issues to the economic impact of the arts and sports. http://www.urbancenter.iupui.edu
• There’s a newcomer to the courtyard at IUPUI’s University Place. Baseball’s legendary Casey Stengel is depicted in bronze by New York artist Rhoda Sherbell. Stengel (1890-1975) managed the New York Yankees to seven world championships, and the sculpture was dedicated during the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the National Art Museum of Sport, housed at University Place. The work was given by several donors as a memorial to the museum’s founder, the late Germain Glidden. http://www.namos.iupui.edu/
