| The diversity of the Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts’ 11 studio areas will be mirrored at the Bloomington Biennial, beginning Friday, Jan. 24, and running through March 9 at the IU Museum. Work by 35 artist-teachers, with media ranging from painting and sculptural installations to textiles, jewelry and ceramics, will be featured.
Among the highlights of this year’s exhibition will be the inclusion of new media, such as video-digital art, animation and Margaret Dolinsky’s interactive virtual environment. Other artists will use the exhibition as an opportunity to unveil large-scale installations, such as Dale Newkirk’s hexagonal tent with interior projection, Joan Sterrenburg’s evolving statement on the process of death and memory, which will change throughout the run of the show, and Jerald Jacquard’s 15-foot-high sculpture located in the museum’s atrium.
NoonTalks are planned each Wednesday in the museum’s first-floor Special Exhibitions Gallery from Jan. 29 through Feb. 26, featuring discussions with exhibiting artists.
