IPSE ‘Sharing the Learning Space’ conference April 3

Breakout proposals due Jan. 15

As electronic learning increasingly becomes “business as usual,” learners’ expectations have broadened beyond the online syllabus and the use of E-mail for communication with faculty members. With limited time and resources, how can faculty, technologists and institutional administrators meet the rising expectations for high-quality online learning? This year’s Indiana Partnership for Statewide Education(IPSE) annual All Partners Conference is scheduled April 3 at the Indiana Memorial Union in Bloomington with the theme “Sharing the Learning Space.” IPSE is a component of the Indiana Higher Education Telecommunication System (IHETS).

The conference will focus on initiatives to find, create, evaluate and incorporate electronic course materials and to assess the impact of electronic course materials on learning. The theme brings together two recent initiatives in Indiana: the state’s participation from mid-2000 to the present in the national MERLOT project, with its emphasis on learning objects; and the transition of the IHETS’ grants program from funding online courses to funding the development of learning modules. MERLOT executive director Ed Cooper will be the keynote speaker at the conference. IPSE is currently soliciting proposals for breakout sessions at the conference. Proposals should be submitted electronically on the IHETS Web site below by Jan. 15.
