Civic
engagement, which you will read about in today’s edition
of IU Home Pages, can also manifest in the simplest
of ways—like scooping up dessert for passersby at a United
Way ice cream social at IUB’s Sample Gates. John Bodnar
(in foreground), chair of the IUB Department of History,
took his turn at serving with grad students Caitlin Houston
and Alex Ihnen. Another form of civic engagement is an IU
tradition: contributing to United Way campaigns toward sustaining
area social service agencies. IUPUI wraps up its campaign
Oct. 29 with a campus goal of $300,000; IU Bloomington’s
campaign runs through November and has a goal of $615,000.
Watch for an update from all the IU campuses in the November
edition.
