De Anza’s Murphy: Civic engagement, participation

Brian Murphy will speak on the topic “From Community Engagement to Political Participation” Monday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. in the Lilly Auditorium of the University Library at IUPUI. Murphy became the third president of De Anza Community College in Cupertino, Calif., on July 1. Prior to joining De Anza, he served as executive director of the San Francisco Urban Institute at San Francisco State University.Murphy will address issues revolving around the national movement for civic engagement in American higher education and the programs in community service learning most often associated with the movement. This will be the fourth presentation in IUPUI’s Conversations on Civic Engagement series.
