Live music by the Lynne Arriale Trio and the University of Namibia
Choir offers back-to-back cultural events
• The Lynne Arriale Trio opens the Lively Arts series on Thursday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. in Vivian Auditorium on the IU East campus. “This is a world-class performance brought to Richmond by IU East,” said Schnell Garrett, director of campus life and chair of the Lively Arts committee. “It directly reflects the IU East initiatives of providing performance to enrich the lives of the community.” For more information about this free event, please call 765-973-8240.
• The Office of Multicultural Affairs at IU East is sponsoring the University of Namibia Choir (UNAM) in concert Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Richmond. The UNAM Choir consists of approximately 50 student voices, accompanied by drums and violins. The repertoire consists of religious, concert, traditional and folk music. They sing in all Namibian languages, which include German, English, Afrikaans, Oshi-kwanyama, Oshi-Ndonga, Oshi-Herero, Lozi, Rukwangali and Khoekhoegowab.
