Recently lauded by Successful Meetings magazine, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has gained prominence as a result of a series of successful legal actions he has catalyzed as an attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper, a grassroots organization formed in the 1960s to serve as a public advocate for the health and well-being of the Hudson River and the New York City watersheds. While a concept of “neighbor-watching” public waterways has its roots in the United Kingdom, the Hudson Riverkeeper was the first in this nation and has inspired similar privately funded, non-governmental organizations to monitor and to protect waterways throughout the U.S.
Kennedy is also a clinical professor and supervising attorney at the Environmental Litigation Clinic at Pace University School of Law. Earlier in his career, he served as assistant district attorney in New York City. He has worked on environmental issues across the Americas and has assisted several indigenous tribes in Latin America and Canada in successfully negotiating treaties protecting traditional homelands.
