May memorial Wednesday at IU Northwest

IU Northwest will hold a memorial service for Silas W. “Bill" May, professor emeritus on Wednesday (September 25) at 2 p.m. outside the Library Conference Center near the fountain. Chancellor Bruce W. Bergland, Dorothy Ige, dean of arts and sciences, and faculty and staff members of the Department of Biology will deliver remarks. In addition, any other faculty, staff, students, or friends who would like to speak about their reflections on. May are invited to do so. Light refreshments will be served afterwards in the foyer of the Library Conference Center.

After almost 30 years at IU Northwest in Gary's Glen Park neighborhood, May retired in December as an associate professor emeritus of biology. He had served as interim vice chancellor in 2000 2001 and as Bergland's special assistant after that.

A scholarship/memorial fund has been established in May's name. Those wishing to make a contribution should send checks payable to the IU Foundation, c/o Jeff Lorber, University Advancement, 3400 Broadway, Sycamore Hall, Gary, IN. 46408.
