· The National Institutes of Health has recognized the IU School of Nursing as one of the top 100 schools of nursing in the country. IU ranked 17th.

· IU Bloomington had eight student-athletes competing at the World University Games, which began Aug. 11 in Izmir, Turkey. The games were first staged in Paris, France, in 1923. Among participants were recent IU graduate Cassandra Cardinell and IU sophomore Christina Loukas. The two are pictured on the IU Home Pages front page today in a synchronous dive from the 10-meter platform at the IU Outdoor Pool. Cardinell is the diver at left.
