Kanpol named IPFW education dean

Kanpol is currently chair of the Department of Education, St. Joseph’s University, in Philadelphia.

Born in Melbourne, Australia, he immigrated to Israel in 1973, where he completed a baccalaureate degree and taught at both the secondary and post-secondary levels. In 1983, he moved to the United States and earned a doctoral degree in education from Ohio State University. His dissertation topic addressed the role of teachers in the social order and his most recent books are From Nihilism to Possibility: Democratic Transformation for the Inner City (with Frederick Yeo, Hampton Press, 1999) and Critical Pedagogy: An Introduction (Bergin & Garvey, 1999).
