| IU East students provide nursing service and care to patients in multiple hospitals in east central Indiana and west central Ohio, including Reid Hospital, Fayette County Memorial Hospital, Ball Memorial Hospital, Henry County Memorial Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, McCullough-Hyde and Richmond State Hospital.
At these sites, students complete clinical rotations which include teaching clients, providing client and family care, and discharge planning.
Although most people see these as the major partnerships, IU East also coordinates with smaller community agencies that also facilitate work in the community and are more project focused.
Each year, students work with the IU East Center for Health Promotions to organize a health fair for first grade students in the Richmond Community Schools Corporation. Other partnerships include working with Youth as Resources; planning the National Youth Service Day; coordinating Halloween safety programs to children at Head Start; and providing area seniors with a health education fair in the spring in conjunction with the Area 9 Agency and the IU East Center for Health Promotions.
Students also provide health education, counseling and service to area schools while working with school nurses at Northeastern, Rushville and Richmond school systems.
