| Norma Holland, associate vice president, and directors Barry Walsh and Laurie Sullivan of the University Information Systems (UIS) division of University Information Technology Services (UITS) at IU, have been acknowledged by their peers through national service appointments. Holland has been appointed to the board of directors of CUMREC (www.cumrec.org), a national higher education administrative technology conference that provides a forum for higher education professionals to share expertise and experiences with computer systems. CUMREC, founded in 1956, is an affiliate of EDUCAUSE, a major nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology. Holland was the chair of EDUCAUSE 2001, held in Indianapolis last October, which attracted more than 6,000 conferees.
Walsh has been appointed director of the EDUCAUSE Institute (www.educause.edu/inst/m022/program.asp),
effective in July. He has been a faculty member of the institute
since 1999. Offering programs in Boulder, Colo., and Palm Springs,
Calif. the EDUCAUSE Institute is designed as a professional development
program for those who manage some aspect of information technology
and resources in higher education.
Sullivan has been elected to the Higher Education User Group (HEUG). The HEUG (www.heug.org) consists of higher education institutions using PeopleSoft products and provides a forum for sharing information and experience among higher education customers on matters of common interest about PeopleSoft implementations. HEUG is certified by PeopleSoft.
