IU part of team assisting American University in Kyrgyzstan

Indiana University is providing assistance to the American University of Kyrgyzstan (AUK) to help meet the need in Central Asia for "a new generation equipped with a modern understanding of how economic resources, information and rights are held and used in a free society."

IU and several other universities are involved in the third year of a three-year grant from the U.S. Department of State. Faculty development and administrative training at AUK is being conducted through the Indiana Consortium for International Programs.

The target academic fields are journalism/communications, international relations, political science, economics, psychology, sociology and American studies.
