Sharon Brehm presented the staff merit awards last month.

Ruth Aten, administrative services coordinator for
the Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology, has worked
at the university for 20 years. When the folklore department
was divided into two branches in 1999, she worked hard to
ensure a smooth transition.

David Breeden has been a Physical Plant electrician
for 17 years. He was nominated for his leadership qualities,
courteous nature, “can-do attitude” and problem-solving abilities.

Harriet
Castrataro has worked for the university for 23 years,
six of which have been in her current position as an academic
adviser and co-director of the placement center in the Department
of Applied Health Science. She has a reputation for being
“approachable and dedicated” and genuinely caring about those
she serves.

Ernie
Robertson, a Physical Plant employee, tackles plumbing
problems. A 30-year IU employee, he is noted for arriving
at service calls with a smile on his face. Robertson is often
called back to the campus from home or during weekends and,
afterwards, always checks to make sure that his customers
are satisfied.

Rebecca Bryant, a 27-year IU employee, is office manager
in the Department of History. She has been praised by colleagues
for her good humor, warm personality and trustworthiness.
In a department of 45 full-time faculty with 4,000 students
enrolled each year, she is known for managing the office in
an efficient, timely and highly professional manner.

Kimberly
Foust has worked in the Office of International Programs
for seven years, where she is an accounting associate. In
her position, she deals with visiting dignitaries, foreign
scholars and students from abroad. She manages more than 200
different accounts spread over many locations on the Bloomington
and other IU campuses.
