The Conference annually hosts workshops led by students, faculty, and professionals alike to educate and motivate students to action. Workshop areas generally include education, activism, and social/networking opportunities. NEIL G. GIULIANO
Neil G. Giuliano serves as president of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamati on (GLAAD). GLAAD is one of the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) organizations, and the only one dedicated to ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of LGBT people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. Mr. Giuliano joined GLAAD in September 2005. Prior to joining GLAAD, Mr. Giuliano was the mayor of Tempe, Arizona.
BEVERLY SECKINGER
Beverly Seckinger is an independent producer based in Tucson, Arizona. She is Professor and Interim Director of the School of Media Arts at the University of Arizona, where she teaches courses in media production, documentary studies, and LGBT Studies. She is also a founding member of the university’s Institute for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Studies, and since 1993 has served as director of the Lesbian Looks Film & Video Series. Before joining the Media Arts faculty in 1991, she worked as a freelance producer in Philadelphia, and spent four years in Morocco, first as a Peace Corps Volunteer, and later as a literacy researcher.
TERRANCE DEAN
Terrance Dean is an author, speaker, educator, and hip hop head. He is the author of the book Hiding In Hip Hop...On The Down Low in the Entertainment Industry from Music to Hollywood. Dean has worked in the entertainment industry in both television and fi lm for over 10 years with companies such as B.E.T., Savoy Television, Paramount Pictures, Warner Brothers Pictures, Buena Vista Television, Sony Pictures, and most recently MTV Networks. He is also the founder/creator of Men’s Empowerment, Inc. and cocreator of The Gathering of Men with Adeyemi Bandele.
