Posting to/ Dealing with OnCourse Forums

  1. Click "New Topic" to the right of the Forum Title
  2. Use your paper title as the topic title.
  3. Attach your paper as a MSWord or a rich-text-format (RTF) document. (RTF is recommended for all non MS word documents, and also for MSWord2007.) IN ADDITION
  4. Cut and paste the text of your paper into the on-line "full description" box.

If you are not writing a paper this week, you should read the posted papers before class. Be prepared to talk about them in relation to the readings, and to offer constructive writing advice.

Please note that I can monitor both the time papers are submitted, and who views them and when. Late papers will be penalized 1 point for each 15 minutes past the deadline, and failure to view the papers in time to talk about them in class will affect your participation grade. [Note: as of Oct. 5, I am still waiting for the OnCourse people to send me this info. Everyone appears to have been reasonably responsible about the requirement thus far. I don't intend to become retroactively draconian about the deadlines, but please don't take OnCourse's current failure as license to ignore your peers' papers. When I do get the data, I will make it a component of the participation grade.)

If OnCourse is acting up, please email your paper and/or a message about your difficulties to marriage@indiana.edu, and try again at the earliest reasonable interval. Paper submitters who have difficulty with OnCourse should also email their papers to their reviewers. I want to know if there are difficulties, but you are likely to get better and faster help with them if you contact the UITS support. (I also encourage contacting them in the hope that being a squeaking wheel might get some of our recurring problems fixed.)
