Week One Tips for Library Assignment
- The Video Browsing Collection/Searching for
movies
- The Video Browsing Collection is immediately to your left after you
go through the Kent Cooper Room security gate. It's set up like
Blockbuster or Video World except you can borrow videos for free (as long
as you return them on time).
- To search IUCAT
(the IU Libraries catalog)
for a specific movie title, use Exact Search.
This is what it will look like:

- This will give you everything in IUCAT with the title The Diary of
Anne Frank. It's usually easy to tell which is the movie, but
you
could also do an Advanced Search where you limit your results to
movies only:

- Newspapers on Microfilm/Searching for
newspapers
- Newspapers in the microfilm area are shelved in call number order. To
find the call number of a newspaper, do an Exact Search in
IUCAT by the newspaper's
title:
- Or, you can search by place of publication to
find all newspapers published in a particular town, like this:
