Sones de Mexico
Beyond the Music: A Musical Geography of Mexico
Sones de Mexico is a two-time Grammy-nominated performance and education ensemble, promoting greater appreciation of Mexican folk and traditional music. They have recorded five albums and have appeared at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Getty Museum, among other prestigious performance venues.
For this Noon Concert/Lecture Series event, the group will present Beyond the Music: A Musical Geography of Mexico, a program contextualizing the distinct music and dance traditions of Mexico through live performance and discussion. This presentation is sponsored in part by a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts, the IU Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology, the IU Latino Studies Program, and the Archives of Traditional Music.
The Hoagy Carmichael Room is located in Morrison Hall, Room 006 on the Indiana University campus in Bloomington, IN.
