4. 1997 Beta Phi Mu Initiation and Award Ceremony
Linda Kamoji has been awarded a scholarship to attend the 1997 conference of the Ohio Valley Group of Technical Services Librarians (OVGTSL). The conference will be held April 17-18 at the University of Notre Dame. She was nominated by SLIS and selected by the OVGTSL scholarship committee. Linda is Manager of the Monographic Cataloging Unit in MPS and a SLIS student. Congratulations to Linda on receiving this award!
2. STUDENT EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION RECEPTION
The Libraries' annual celebration to honor student employees will be held on Tuesday, April 8, at 3:30 p.m., in the 3rd floor lounge. Please put this important event on your calendar. More information will follow.

4. 1997 BETA PHI MU INITIATION AND AWARD CEREMONY
The Chi Chapter of Beta Phi Mu (BPM), the international library and information science honor society, will hold its annual initiation of new members from the School of Library and Information Science, Indiana University, on Thursday, May 1st, from 7:30 am - 9 am, at the Indiana State Library Auditorium. Dr. Judith Serebnick will be presented with the 1997 Chi Chapter Service Award and the student winner of the chapter's new Outstanding Student Scholarship Award will be recognized. All Beta Phi Mu members are invited to attend. A continental breakfast will be served. The cost is $8.00.
To be eligible for membership in BPM, candidates must have completed all requirements leading to a master's degree with a scholastic average of no lower than 3.75. They also must have recommendation by the faculty attesting to their professional promise. Total eligible candidates may comprise no more than 25% of the annual graduating class.
The BPM meeting is held in conjunction with the Indiana Library Federation's Annual Conference. Members may register through ILF or directly with Chi Chapter.
