1. THANKS!!

I want to extend my thanks to all of you who planned and attended the reception for me recently. It was good to meet so many of you in such an informal and festive setting. I enjoyed myself thoroughly, even though I am still at the stage of learning names. Each day that I am here I learn more about the fine work you all do for the faculty and students. Thank you for giving me a warm welcome. I look forward to working with you this year.

3. NEW APPROVAL PLAN - AFRICAN MATERIALS FROM FRENCH PUBLISHERS

At the end of the Spring semester, staff in MPS completed work with Nancy Schmidt, African Studies Area Specialist, and one of our European vendors, Aux Amateurs des Livres, to set up an approval plan for African materials published by a selected group of French publishers. This plan covers materials of all African countries, except Egypt. It has started with 1996 imprints. If other fund managers are interested in learning more about or want to consider participation in this plan and others currently in operation, please contact Barbara Henn or David Smith, Monographic Processing Services.
